The social workers pro-actively meet the street children where they are. They seek to establish contact, build trust and in time invite the children to our centres. Slowly, through one-to-one work and the resources of the day centres (one for boys, two for girls) the children are given a voice to share their stories and feelings and think about returning to their families.
At the same time the workers endeavour to work with the child’s family towards reconciliation while providing long term support and practical help to achieve and sustain a positive outcome.
An integral part of the Project’s work is active engagement with local community representatives to raise awareness of the needs and rights of street children and their families.
